Yet the core of design is shifting elsewhere: towards the values, behaviour and lifestyles of young people. <\/p><p>Textirama closely followed the MarketingTribune study <span style=\"text-align: var(--text-align); letter-spacing: 0px;\">Jongereniconen 2026<\/span><span style=\"text-align: var(--text-align); letter-spacing: 0px;\"> and distilled the key implications for textiles and interior. The study is  <\/span><span style=\"text-align: var(--text-align); letter-spacing: 0px;\">a 10-part series based on more than 160 studies and input from 30 trend experts. The key word: \u201caffordable\u201d<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0e7592a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0e7592a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The strongest thread running through the research is not sustainability, technology or lifestyle \u2014 but <strong>affordability<\/strong>.<\/p><p>According to the report, for young people it is all about \u201caccessibility, also for me.\u201d<br>Not the most beautiful product.<br>Not the most exclusive brand.<br>But something they <em>can realistically afford<\/em>.<\/p><p>This drastically changes their view of interiors.<\/p><p><strong>Concretely, it means:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>no design objects as status symbols<\/li><li>smart combinations of inexpensive and high-quality<\/li><li>second-hand becoming normal<\/li><li>brand logos losing importance<\/li><\/ul><p>Vintage and second-hand luxury are explicitly gaining popularity because they last longer and offer affordable prestige.<\/p><p>For textiles, this marks a turning point:<br><strong>sustainability becomes first and foremost an economic argument<\/strong> \u2014 not an ecological one.<\/p><p>Repairable, timeless and modular outweighs fashionable.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-edf996d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"edf996d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">2. The influence of digitalisation (that no one saw coming)<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-32c1e2b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"32c1e2b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Another striking insight: young people are extremely digital \u2014 yet they react against it at the same time.<\/p><p>They are inspired by social media (64% purchase more quickly after seeing inspiration there), but in physical life they seek:<\/p><ul><li>intimacy<\/li><li>tactility<\/li><li>human experiences<\/li><\/ul><p>They prefer one meaningful experience over constant consumption.<\/p><p>And that explains a paradox:<br><strong>the more digital life becomes, the more important materials you can feel become<\/strong>.<\/p><p>In other words, textile becomes the counterweight to the screen.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fa98d7b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"fa98d7b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">6. Is this really new?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-16b763b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"16b763b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Yes\u2026 and no.<\/p><p>Young people still seek:<\/p><ul><li>identity<\/li><li>a sense of belonging<\/li><li>comfort<\/li><\/ul><p>Previous generations did too.<\/p><p>The difference lies in the context:<\/p><ul><li>high housing prices<\/li><li>mental pressure<\/li><li>digital overstimulation<\/li><li>climate awareness<\/li><\/ul><p>As a result, their consumption behaviour shifts:<br>from ownership \u2192 to use<br>from status \u2192 to meaning<br>from design \u2192 to wellbeing<\/p><p>And that is precisely why interiors are becoming less an aesthetic discipline and more a <strong>wellbeing discipline<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4e33134 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"4e33134\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Conclusion<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cdabb72 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"cdabb72\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The <em>Jongereniconen 2026 <\/em>research shows that Gen Z does not want a design revolution \u2014 but a living revolution.<\/p><p>They seek:<\/p><ul><li>affordability<\/li><li>calm<\/li><li>authenticity<\/li><li>flexibility<\/li><\/ul><p>And surprisingly, much of the answer comes from one material category: textile.<\/p><p>Not as finishing touch.<br>Not as decoration.<br>But as an instrument to make spaces softer, quieter and more personal.<\/p><p>The interior world still often thinks in furniture and form.<br>Young people think in feeling and mental space.<\/p><p>The next generation of interior design will therefore not be driven by architecture alone.<\/p><p>But by atmosphere.
